When VeePee was the first in the business to supply ready-to-print plates in 2017,.

JC: The post-print quality wasn’t great due to the lack of good boards. The advent of automatic board plants revolutionised the corrugated industry over the last decade, producing high-quality boards.

AA: That’s when you made your move?

JC: Yes. Veepee was an early entrant into this space, leveraging the demand for high-quality polymer plates. We expanded our infrastructure to supply pre-mounted plates up to 2×3 metres using automated mounting machines. In 2017, we became the first trade shop in the country to supply ready-to-print plates.

AA: How do you work with flexo printers to match gravure quality?

JC: Success in this industry requires understanding colour management and press standardisation. We don’t accept jobs without fingerprinting the press. We maintain separate profiles for each substrate printed, multiplied by the number of presses at a customer site.

AA: What are your plans for the next 12 months?

JC: We aim to focus on hybrid screening to elevate flexo printing. We plan to implement ECG and fixed pallet printing at one customer site within the next year. Additionally, integrating print with digital media will be a core focus for Veepee in the coming years.
